About the course

The T-level qualification is an exciting new vocational qualification, strongly backed by the government. The T-Level Education and Childcare is an excellent qualification for anyone who is wishing to progress into a career within the Early Years sector or the education sector.

The T-level Education and Childcare is a two-year course providing students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment. On completion of the two years, you will have a licence to practice and can work in a supervisory role within an early years provision.

The T-level Education and Childcare covers knowledge of child development and education from birth to eighteen years; therefore, is an excellent foundation to progress onto a degree for teaching posts in education. The course carries up to 168 UCAS points and is widely accepted by universities.

During the two-years students will complete 750 hours within a work placement. This provides the student with real experience within the industry and an opportunity to gain confidence within the workplace.

T-levels are backed by British business, many of whom helped design the courses. T-level courses also provide many transferable skills which can be used throughout your career.

Entry requirements

Entry is by interview. Applicants will need a minimum of five GCSE's Grade 4 or above, including maths and English at Grade 4.

Government mandate from November 2021 states employees will need to have maths and English at either Functional Skills level 2, or GCSE grade 4 to be employed in this sector.

Applicants will need to be organised and highly motivated to manage their own time effectively as this is a 5 day, full time course which requires 3 days in college per week and 2 days in work placement.

Learners will need to have a mature and responsible outlook as they will be required to manage a demanding workload with a high degree of independence and be able to demonstrate a responsible and conscientious approach to supporting young children in early years and education settings.
