At West Suffolk College we want to support all our Students and especially those with caring responsibility. As if college work was not tough enough, being a Young Adult Carer adds to the pressure of College and life. If you’re caring for a family member it can leave you feeling like there’s not time enough to fit in everything your course requires. If it’s affecting your study, we are there to help in partnership with Suffolk Family Carers.

If you are 16 to 24 years old and care for or an adult or are affected by a family member who has a physical or mental illness or drug or alcohol addiction, you are a young adult carer.

Suffolk Family Carers comprises of a team of professionals who want to help you, if you are struggling to cope, or if you just need some information to help you along the way.

Accessible via the YAC lead or you allocated Welfare Officer at West Suffolk College, you can make an appointment to talk through any issues you are dealing with, or drop into the Suffolk Family Carers run. For more information, visit suffolkfamilycarers.org/young-carers
