Is it for me?
Pathway to Vocational Studies is a one-year course designed to support young people whilst they prepare for the next step in their education.
They will gain the skills needed to overcoming barriers, build confidence, knowledge, and behaviours to support their progression.
Aim - to provide an environment where students can concentrate heavily on achieving the Maths and English skills that they need to progress onto their chosen career path, whilst developing communication skills and providing a positive educational experience to build upon and encourage college participation and attendance.
Students' learning environments are:
- Small class sizes.
- Classroom engagement with an LSA and tutor.
- A team of dedicated teaching and learning staff.
- Support from the student welfare team
- A programme tailored to meet individual needs.
- In house teaching of Maths and English
Core programme content includes:
- An introduction to life at college
- Developing study skills

- Learning to work with others effectively by planning small events and activities.

Assessment
- Assessment methods vary and incorporate written work, presentation assessments, and development opportunities through activities and enrichment visits and excursions.
- There will be formal assessments to be completed as assignments, exams and verbal assessments. The formal exams will be taken in the Maths and English departments following their schedule.
