About the course
The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide you with more in-depth knowledge of the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work. The qualification aims to develop your counselling skills, develop your understanding of the different approaches involved in the use of counselling skills and to help you appreciate the importance of self-development. This is primarily a theory based course although there is one practical element. You will look at the role and responsibilities of a counsellor, focusing on the place of a counsellor within counselling.

You must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to access this course:

- must have been at least 19 years of age by 1 August 2023
- Nationality: Learners must have lived within the UK or EEA for at least the last 3 years
- Learners will be required to complete an electronic enrolment form.
- Learners will be required to complete a student declaraton.
- Learners must have a good level of reading and writing English skills and undertake a maths and English skills checker. (initial online course only)
- Learners will be required to attend an online induction session
- Learners will be required to attend a 1-1 session with the assessor, once enrolment is complete.

What you'll learn (core modules)
To be awarded the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units:
- Unit 01 Developing counselling skills
- Unit 02 Theoretical approaches in the use of counselling skills
- Unit 03 Working ethically with counselling skills
- Unit 04 Counselling skills and diversity
- Unit 05 Counselling skills and personal development
How will I be assessed?
- This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed portfolio of evidence which is submitted to your tutor using the online portal.
- One of the requirements of this qualification is to demonstrate your practical counselling skills, this will be assessed via an online 1-1 session with your tutor.
- The assessor offers (optional) weekly 1-1 tutorials, these sessions can be booked in 15 minute blocks and will alternate on a weekly basis of daytime (week 1) evening session (week 2) etc. More information at induction.
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
- All learning is completed online (self-study) at a time that suits you without the need to attend college.
- At the start of the course and you will be allocated a designated tutor who will support you through your qualification.
Where will this course take me?
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to Level 4 counselling qualifications.

How much will it cost?
**This course is Fully funded, however we charge £125 for courses not completed, this covers our registration fees and associated costs.
The course is fully funded subject to the individual being over 19 and having lived in an EEA country for the last 3 years
