Study Times You will be expected to be in College a minimum of 3 days Per week, from 9:15 till 4pm.
Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above.

You will be invited to attend an interview where you should demonstrate that you are highly motivated, can manage your own time and within a team and have the flexibility to work on projects out of college hours if and when required.

Is it for me?

Do you have the character, personality and passion to get in front of the camera or microphone and tell the world how it is, or a motivated, organised, fearless determination to hold a tv or radio show together?  Tv, Radio and digital media are some of the most creative, exciting, exhilarating and diverse industries to be involved with.
This practical leaning course will give you presenters, performers, writers and potential producers a wide and hands on experience insight of all areas of this vast and lively 24 hour industry with invaluable real-life projects and work experience taking briefs from and working closely with industry clients.
You will also be working, presenting, producing or writing for our developing Tv and Radio channels, magazine, news, music, arts, sports, politics and entertainment shows and podcasts. 

What you'll learn

You will be learn core skills in Tv and Radio show planning and production, presenting, reporting and hosting techniques, scheduling alongside basic multi camera, lighting, teleprompter, audio operations, vision mixing and video editing skills, honed over the 2 years to a high level to allow you to produce an impressive showreel to enhance your future career prospects. 
You will work through active projects in all areas of broadcast and streaming media developing supporting skills in motion graphics, graphic design, video editing and project management.

Equipment required for the course

  • External Hard-drive (for example: LaCie Rugged 1TB USB 3.0) 
  • SD card Class 10 minimum 32gb (for example: Sandisk Extreme Pro) 
  • Monitor Headphones with 3.5mm jack connection (for example: AKG K52 - 3.5mm)
  • Total of approximately £120 

Work experience placements

All students are required to undertake 40 hours work experience per year whilst on the course as this gives invaluable insight in to real world projects and in preparation for your relative industries. This will include a few evening events from time to time.

Assessment

There are no exams as such. Throughout the course you will generate a portfolio of evidence to show how you are developing within the broadcast and media industries. You will be producing both practical work alongside presentations, scripts and storyboards, research and evaluation documentation.  
Your grade for both years is based on a large end of year project of your choosing. This could be a full tv or radio show production, a live event production or a podcast as long as it fits within the boundaries of the qualification.
