Study times You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:15 to 4:00. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction.
Entry requirements A range of GCSE passes grade 3/4 or above (to include Mathematics or English at the minimum of Grade 4), or an equivalent qualification. Current WSC learners with an appropriate Level 1 qualification and either GCSE Mathematics and English at the minimum of Grade 4.

Is it for me?

If you have an interest in computing and digital technologies, this course is a great introduction to an ever-growing innovative industry. 
This course will give you a good general introduction to digital technologies and provide the basic skills required to progress into a wide range of courses and pathways, including software development, IT support, and eSports. 
Over this one-year course, you will experience a broad range of lessons and practical sessions across all IT disciplines in our purpose built and well-equipped computer rooms. The design of the course will offer you hands-on practical engagement with the systems and processes associated to ICT. You will develop both professional and personal development skills giving you the widest possible opportunity to progress within the computing industry.

Equipment required for the course

Learners on this course will be required to purchase the ICT level 2 exam revision workbook and the level 2 exam revision guide. To help with studies and to improve grades, learners are also encouraged to purchase the Level 2 ICT course book (details supplied when you join the course). 
Stationery (notepad, pen/pencil and ruler) and a storage device (memory stick). A home computer is not required but would be helpful to work at home. 

Work experience placements

During each year of the course, learners with take part in at least 40 hours of work experience. This will build on the skills developed in the classroom, give an insight into professional practices within the industry and will provide valuable evidence for a learner's CV and skills portfolio. Work experience is also a great opportunity to develop contacts with potential future employers in the IT sector. 

Assessment

Assessment will be through a combination of written assessments, practical work, professional discussions and two mandatory online external exams.
