Level 2

You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:15 to 4:00. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction. 

Entry is by interview. You are required to have achieved at least two GCSE passes at grade 4 or above, (to include English and Science), plus GCSE Maths at grade 3 is required to gain entry onto this course. If you are progressing from Level 1 Beauty Therapy, you must have achieved L2 functional skills English and L1 functional skills in maths.  Current WSC students wishing to progress to level 2 or 3 programmes, must have excellent attendance and have raised their achievement levels in year to progress on to higher level courses. This expectation also applies to Maths and English courses.

Applicants will have completed Level 1 in Hairdressing or Barbering, but we will also consider students who have achieved grade 4 and above in English and Maths, and minimum of one other subject at grade 4 and above. Applicants that are 19+ do not require previous qualifications but will need an interview to assess suitability. Current WSC students wishing to progress to level 2 or 3 programmes, must have excellent attendance and have raised their achievement levels in year to progress on to higher level courses. This expectation also applies to Maths and English courses.

The Academy of Hair and Beauty, West Suffolk College Sixth Form campus, Bury St Edmunds 

You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:15 to 4:00. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction. 

At least two GCSE passes at grade 9-4 (to include English and Maths) are required to gain entry onto this course. However, this course does offer flexibility on the outcome of a personal interview and selection process with the curriculum staff. High grades in creative subjects are desirable. You may progress to this course from level 1 hairdressing or beauty therapy. You may also progress from either hairdressing or beauty therapy at level 2 should you wish to change careers and work as a professional Make-Up Artist.
