Carpentry students create replica of Tower Bridge during two days of College activities at 2023 Suffolk Show.
Carpentry students from West Suffolk College are feeling chipper after setting out to create a replica of the iconic Tower Bridge at this year’s Suffolk Show, with the team generously supported by TMJ Interiors.
The learners are making their homage during the two day county show to help demonstrate the skills they have learnt whilst studying at the College.
Guests to Trinity Park can then put their schools forward to be included in a raffle to win ‘Tower Bridge’ and one educational establishment will be selected at random to receive this seven foot creation.
In addition to this, West Suffolk College and other educational establishments associated with the Eastern Colleges Group (that includes Abbeygate Sixth Form, One Sixth Form and University Studies at West Suffolk College) have been in a number of areas across the showground.
Learners have been helping run the sports area, the construction department have been involved in skills zone demonstrations and at the main stand, staff have been promoting their new digital prospectus that launches in August 2023 as well as new courses including T-Levels and apprenticeships.
Organiser of activities this year is head of marketing and brand, Carrie Edwards. Carrie said: “It’s been a brilliant first day. We can't wait for day two.”
