In a report issued by the UK Government in association with the Education and Skills Funding Agency, West Suffolk College was placed as the top performing further education college out of the whole of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
The latest apprenticeship achievement rate outcomes were published in March 2024.
The current national apprenticeship pass rate is 54% and West Suffolk College – based in Bury St Edmunds - achieved 68.1% - over 4% higher, with almost twice as many Apprentices on programme, than their closest rivals who are situated in Cambridge.
In addition to this, West Suffolk College has been placed in the top 9% of colleges in terms of the national picture - the highest performing college in the medium to large provider category with over 700 apprentices in last year’s cohort.
Lisa Parish said: “We are incredibly proud of our Apprenticeship programmes and our wonderful Apprenticeship team that currently supports around 2000 learners whilst working with around 900 businesses both regionally and nationally. There have been some recent changes to the way in which these qualifications are delivered and our committed and focussed team have risen to these challenges as the 97% pass rate result suggests.
“Whilst we are top of the league in terms of the Eastern region, we are determined to go one further and become the best performing college in the country and that will be our motivation in the coming weeks and months.”
