BE NICE SOCIALCreative Journeys LCH Talks is the first of an ongoing series of such events. On Tuesday 5th November the legendary graphic designer David Carson is undertaking a lecture and practical workshop.

‘Creative Journeys’ LCH Talks (Chapter 1) at The APEX, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. 28.10.2019

The School of Art & Design – West Suffolk College

On Monday 28th October 500 students (FE and degree level) studying art & design subjects came together for a day of eleven talks by leading UK creative practitioners.

The vision for the day was for the entire School of Art & Design and art students from the new Abbeygate Sixth Form to come together and hear insightful talks from successful artists and designers. The theme was their journey from school to a rewarding career. Professional advice, equality and collaboration were key themes. Three of the speakers were ex-students of our courses who have gone on to forge high profile careers.

This is the first of an ongoing series of such events. On Tuesday 5th November the legendary graphic designer David Carson is undertaking a lecture and practical workshop.

These are speakers of the very highest calibre.

Derek Johnson (Director – School of Art & Design) stated ‘Our LCH Talks are the perfect example of how we put the very highest level of education at the centre of who we are and what we do. No other colleges in the UK undertake such an ambitious programme of inspirational speakers and this educates and inspires our students – who are the future of the UK creative industries’.

It was a fantastic day and was one of the historical milestone successes of The School of Art & Design.

Sophie Lachowycz, Course Director for Fashion Media & Promotion, added: "This event was funded with thanks to Place 21, connecting industry to education and inspiring our students."
