Our very own Helena Rudd is supporting isolating patients in hospitals and hospices by helping to create poignant pebbles for loved ones.

Helena admitted she was humbled to find out that her creative pebbles were supporting patients as far away as Bristol thanks to the unique art project.

Through the Facebook group, Comfort Pebbles 2020, Helena paints pebbles for patients who cannot be visited by family and friends at this time.

The pebbles, which are varnished and disinfected, are then engraved with a message from a loved one.

Helena, who is the Course Director for Year 1 Performing and Production Arts said: “This is a such a special project to be part of and it is humbling to see how they are helping at this time.

“The pebbles can be held by a patient for comfort or they can be kept at the beside as a symbol of their family thinking of them.

“I have even been asked to send my decorated pebbles to a hospice in Bristol who then posted a message on Twitter saying how beautiful they were.”

If you would like to get involved in the project, please search for Comfort Pebbles 2020 on Facebook.
