West Suffolk College has joined the National College for Nuclear (NCfN) as an Accredited Provider, delivering high quality employer-led qualifications.
As an approved provider West Suffolk College is now part of the National College for Nuclear collaborative network in the development and dissemination of nuclear sector focused educational standards and curriculum. NCfN is a joint-venture with EDF, Sellafield Ltd, Lakes College, Bridgwater and Taunton College, University of Bristol and University of Cumbria.
The National College for Nuclear recognise the importance of using West Suffolk College's local knowledge and experience in delivering the skills needed to support employers.
Commenting on West Suffolk College joining, Steve Naylor, Chair and Geoff Rewt, General Manager said: “We are thrilled to welcome West Suffolk College as a NCfN Approved Provider. It is an exciting time for nuclear in Suffolk and bringing nationally recognised qualifications to local colleges brings social economic opportunities to local learners.”
Gary Jefferson, Executive Director for Engineering and Technology at West Suffolk College, added: “West Suffolk College is extremely proud to be recognised as an approved provider for the National College for Nuclear. This will provide opportunities for our community to gain skills in nuclear-related disciplines both for current power generation sites and in readiness for those yet to be built. With Sizewell and Bradwell in our region, both with ambitious plans, it will open the door to high value, secure employment for those completing our National College for Nuclear programmes.”
