About the course
These courses will help learners to develop the digital skills they need for life, work, or further study as set out in the National standards for essential digital skills
12 week Course - 3 hours per session
Entry requirements
Although no formal entry requirements are required, it is essential that you have some knowledge of ICT and computer functions including:
- Turning on a device (including entering and updating any account information safely, such as a password)
- Using a mouse and keyboard for a computer, or touchscreen on a smartphone or tablet
- Use of accessibility tools (including assistive technology) such as changing display settings to make content easier to read
- Interacting with the home screen on a device
- Connecting to the internet (including Wi-Fi) safely and securely, and opening a browser
- Opening and accessing an application on a device.
Learners will complete an initial assessment prior to the start of the qualification to identify their current digital skills capabilities and areas for development.

The Essential Digital Skills qualification includes a final on-screen assessment which online learners will need to attend at West Suffolk College

How much will it cost?
Courses are free as long as you do not already have a qualification at GCSE level in the subject, are aged 19+ and have lived in the E.U. for the past 3 years and have either UK Settled Status or are a U.K. national.
