About the course
This course will enable you to begin your journey into the world of flowers and floristry. You will learn the essentials in the industry while exploring techniques for creating some unique floral designs.
You will working towards:
Floristry Award - Level 1
The course is made up of two units:
- Safe and effective working practices in land-based industries
- Assemble basic floral designs
Assessments will be continuous with a mix of practical and theoretical.
This class will take place over 9 weeks (term time only).
How will I be assessed?
You will complete practical assessments during this course alongside portfolio tasks and a Health and Safety exam.
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
The North Cambridgeshire Training Centre, Chatteris.
Where will this course take me?
This qualification aims to enable learners to develop basic skills in flower arranging craft. It will provide learners with underpinning knowledge of the craft process and basis for progression into further study in floristry.
On the course, the learners will learn how to use materials, tools and equipment correctly and safely while gradually developing a portfolio of their flower arranging designs.
You may wish to progress onto the Level 1 Certificate on completion of this course. This is planned to start in April 2025.
How much will it cost?
Fees:
Both courses are free if your are unemployed or in receipt of low wage (earn below £30,491). Material costs will be covered if you meet the free course eligibility.
If you are employed and earn above the low-income threshold (£30,491) the course cost will be:
- Level 1 Award - £175 plus learners will need to pay for costs of materials/flowers.
- Level 1 Certificate - £200 if following on from the award.
For learners that complete the Award (9-week course) you can progress onto the Level 1 Certificate if you choose to.
Material Costs:
These are still to be finalised but we estimate that additional material costs will be:
- Award - £75 (Approx)
- Certificate - £100 (Approx)
