Overview of course
This intermediate stage programme is designed to give those aged 10 to 15 an opportunity to further develop their cooking skills in a professional kitchen. It is expected that learners have a sound knowledge of food and have good experience of operating in a kitchen.
You will learn new cooking techniques and skills to take home any prepared food for your family and friends to sample. You will be cooking, from scratch, with fresh ingredients in the following sessions:
- Week 1 - 1 March 2025 - Scones and Viennese Biscuits
- Week 2 - 8 March 2025 - White Chocolate Cheesecake, blueberry compote
- Week 3 - 15 March 2025 - Lemon Meringue pie
- Week 4 - 22 March 2025 - Profiteroles & chocolate sauce
- Week 5 - 29 March 2025 - Salted Caramel Macarons
- Week 6 - 5 April 2025 -Students to prepare and serve an afternoon tea for parents and family or invited guests up to 4 in total.
Entry requirements
You must be aged 10-15 and keen to learn new skills and have undertaken the Introductory Junior Chef course prior to enrolment.
Qualifications
You will receive a West Suffolk College certificate signed by the Head Chef

This course will be held at West Suffolk College within the training kitchens
Will I have to provide anything?
Delegates to bring Apron, Hat and Knives provided on previous Junior Chef course.
West Suffolk College are able to accept Childcare Vouchers in payment for this course due to the age of the students. Please contact us for further details.
