Qualification type Level 2 Diploma
Duration 1 year
Study times You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:00 to 4:15. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction.
Entry requirements Successful completion of a Progression Level 1 trade qualification or a substantial history within the construction industry. GCSE English and maths at grade 3 or above or Functional Skills at Level 2. This course is a progression course for students who are currently studying at West Suffolk College.

Work placements Yes

This course provides the level two technical and knowledge units for people seeking a career in the plumbing and heating industry and also practical work in our workshops using industry standard equipment. Successful completion of this course will give you a recognised City & Guilds qualification that can help towards obtaining an apprenticeship or work based qualification (NVQ) 

 

If you are 19+ and are looking for a change in career we also offer a two year Level 2 Evening course to start your journey into the Plumbing industry. This runs over two evenings a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm – 9pm and is a combination of workshop and theory sessions.

The qualification covers many areas within Plumbing and Domestic Heating such as:

Hot and cold water supplies
Sanitation
Understanding Health and Safety within Building Services Engineering

 

Successful completion of this course can enable you to undertake the Level 2 NVQ (provided certain criteria can be met).

This is the qualification required to have licence to practice. Further details about this qualification can be discussed with the Head of Department.

Duration 1 year

Entry requirements Four GCSEs Grade 4 or above, including maths and English. It is expected that you will have a genuine interest in the industry. You will also be required to successfully complete an interview and an aptitude test.
