Study times You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:15 to 4:00. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction.
Entry requirements To secure a place on the Level 1 Sports Course, you'll need 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above. This ensures that students have the foundational knowledge to succeed in the program.

Our Level 1 Sports Course is designed for students passionate about pursuing a career in the sports industry. This foundational course will help you develop essential skills in both the practical and theoretical aspects of sport. With a focus on personal and professional growth, you'll gain a solid understanding of the sports sector and explore potential career pathways.

What you'll learn

The course consists of 10 key modules, covering a range of topics to provide a well-rounded education in sport:

  • Playing Sport: Develop your skills in a variety of sports, learning key techniques and strategies.
  • Coaching Skills in Sport: Gain practical experience in coaching, including planning sessions and leading teams.
  • How Exercise Affects the Body: Understand the physiological effects of exercise and its impact on health.
  • Contributing to the Running of a Sports Event: Learn how to plan, organize, and manage sports events, gaining insights into event logistics and teamwork.

Other modules will include aspects of health and fitness, sports leadership, and the role of sport in the community.

 

Throughout the course, you will:

  • Enhance your organisational and time management skills.
  • Develop key skills in teamwork, leadership, and communication.
  • Build a strong understanding of how to coach and support others in sport.
  • Gain insights into how the body responds to exercise and training.

Work experience placements

We also offer opportunities to work with external employers in the sports industry. These partnerships will provide you with real-world work experience and a chance to build industry-relevant skills that can help you stand out in future job applications or further studies.
