Study times You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:00 to 4:15. Alongside 2 days a week on placement. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction.
Entry requirements Entry is by interview. Applicants will need a minimum of five GCSEs Grade 4 or above, including maths and English at Grade 4 (a science grade 4 is also required for students focused on Primary Teaching in higher education).

Thank you for your interest in our Education and Childcare Level 3 T Level Assisting Teaching Course.
This course is designed to be a firm foundation in providing students with the principal skills and knowledge to be successful at supporting children in the classroom. Your college day will focus on topics such as learning to support the class teacher and enhance pupil's learning, working in either small groups or individually. Checking learning objectives and progress by supporting children to stay on task, and being a good role model by promoting positive values and behaviours, acting with honesty and integrity, and contributing to planning and class activities. 
This two year course provides both the level 3 UCAS points for continuing into HE study in areas such as teaching, social work, educational psychology, and play therapy, or alternatively offering excellent employment opportunities with the education sector.
The course knowledge elements are studied in the three of days college based learning and are designed to provide students with a detailed knowledge of the role of a Classroom Assistant. Alongside this the substantial 350 hours workplace experience of 2 days per week throughout both years, ensures students leave with significant confidence in their vocational skillset which is highly valued across the vast choice of employment opportunities and university courses.

  • Planning, providing and reviewing educational opportunities in collaboration with teachers and other adults
  • Safeguarding and promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people 
  • Recognising, adapting and responding to individual children's needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), to support development and access to the curriculum 

Work experience placements

You will need to complete a practical placement within a primary school to show competence in your knowledge and industry skills of 350 hours. This develops your college learning into practical application and allows you practice your lesson planning, curriculum knowledge and behaviour management in your setting.
Your workplace competency will be observed and moderated by the exam board forming 50% of your final grade in year 2.

Assessment

You will be assessed in Two core knowledge exams, an Employer set Project and on a Occupational specialism synoptic project.
