About the course
The Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is designed for those working in health and social care settings. This qualification develops the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to provide compassionate, person-centred care while meeting industry standards and regulations.
This qualification is ideal for care, support, and key workers in residential, domiciliary, or clinical settings, providing them with the essential skills to advance in their careers. It covers the knowledge and competencies needed for lead adult care roles, including support workers, home care workers, and residential care workers, enabling them to support individuals with diverse needs across various care environments.
Entry requirements
- Age: Learners must have been at least 19 years of age by 31 August 2024 (if you are aged 19-23 years you must already hold a full level 2 qualification i.e. 5 x GCSE's grade A*-C / 4-9)
- Nationality: Learners must have lived within the EU for at least the last 3 years
- Learners will be required to complete an electronic enrolment form.
- Learners will be required to complete a student declaration.
- Learners must undertake a maths and English skills checker (initial online course only).
- Learners will be required to attend an online induction session via zoom (initial online course only).

What you'll learn (core modules)
- The qualification contains both mandatory and optional units which are both competence and knowledge base and will cover core modules such as;
- Promoting Person-Centred Care - Understanding the values and principles of person-centred practice, empowering individuals to make choices about their own care.
- Safeguarding and Protection - Recognising signs of abuse, implementing safeguarding measures, and understanding legal responsibilities.
- Health and Safety in Care Settings - Understanding infection control, risk assessments, and legislation to maintain a safe care environment.
- Communication in Care - Exploring different communication methods, including verbal, non-verbal, and alternative communication techniques to effectively support individuals with varying needs.
- Equality, Diversity & Rights - Learning how to promote inclusivity and ensure all individuals receive care free from discrimination.
- Professional Development and Reflective Practice - Enhancing personal growth, leadership skills, and professional accountability within the care sector.
How will I be assessed?
The course includes online learning materials in the form of interactive resources and flipbooks, a personalised login to access the online learning portal will be given on enrolment.
You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. Your personal tutor will then assess your work and provide you with constructive feedback for each unit.
You must be working or volunteering in a relevant role where there is an opportunity for observations to take place.
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
All learning will be online (self-study) and can be completed at a time that suits without the need to attend college. Dedicated tutors will provide written feedback on the assessments and ongoing remote support where required.
The duration of this course is 13 months and you can enrol at any time. You will be provided with 1-to-1 support with a tutor.
Where will this course take me?
This qualification can serve as a stepping stone to higher-level studies, including Level 4 or 5 in Leadership and Management.
How much will it cost?
You may be eligible for government funding if:
- You are aged 19+
- you are employed but earning less than £25,000 gross per annum (proof required)
OR
- you are in receipt of certain benefits
If you are not eligible for funding, the course fee would be payable. This can be paid in instalments, paid via invoice by an Employer or you can apply for an Advance Learner Loan personally.
Non-completion of the course (including the taking of examinations) or failure to attend 3 consecutive sessions without notification or good reason may result in a charge of £185.
