About the course

There are lots of reasons why someone's behaviour might be challenging – anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities, dementia, to mention just a few. If you want to gain a better understanding of challenging behaviour and how to support individuals who display it, this online qualification is a great way to build your knowledge.

 

This is a 12-week (approx. 120 hours) Online Self-Study qualification course. It can be started anytime and accessed (via a learning portal) at times/days to suit you.

Entry requirements

Learners must meet the following eligibility criteria to access this course:

 

    • ·  Be aged 19+ on the 31/08/2024

      ·  Live in the UK for 3 years/live in UK from EEA for 3 years, or have *pre-settlement or *Settled status from the Home Office (*proof required)

      ·  Due to Government funding criteria, we are unable to accept learners who live in London, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland, Ireland or a devolved postcode areas. Please check with us if you are unsure.

What you'll learn (core modules)

There are lots of reasons why someone's behaviour might be challenging – anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities, dementia, to mention just a few.

If you want to gain a better understanding of challenging behaviour and how to support individuals who display it, this online qualification is a great way to build your knowledge.

You will learn about what 'behaviour that challenges' means, why some people display this behaviour and the impact it can have. You'll also gain insight into how to support positive behaviour, the importance of communication and how to manage challenging behaviour.

 

Course Content:

  • What is meant by the term 'behaviour that challenges'?
  • How to recognise changes in individuals that may indicate an episode of challenging behaviour
  • The importance of non-verbal communication
  • How reflection on an incident can assist in managing future behaviour

 

 


How will I be assessed?

The course includes online learning materials in the form of interactive resources and flipbooks, a personalised login to access the online learning portal will be given on enrolment.

You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. Your personal tutor will then assess your work and provide you with constructive feedback for each unit.

 


Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)

  • All learning will be online (self-study) and can be completed at a time that suits without the need to attend college. Dedicated tutors will provide written feedback on the assessments and ongoing remote support where required.

    How much will it cost?

    The course is fully funded and there are no associated costs with completing this course*

    However if you start and not complete this course there will be a charge of £125

     

    *The course is fully funded subject to the individual being over 19 and having lived in an EEA country for the last 3 years

    Once these are approved, we will send information on how to access the learning portal.

    You can only apply for one course at a time however upon completion you can enrol on a further 2 courses per academic year.
