Overview of course
West Suffolk College is delighted to announce a new short course in milling and turning which will give delegates a basic knowledge of machining processes, materials and how to operate safely. This course will be delivered at North Cambridgeshire Training Centre (NCTC) - Chatteris.
The following will be covered:
Machine Safety
Machining processes
Turning
- Turning to size (taper)
- Parting off
- Drilling and Taping
- Chamfering
- Knurling
Milling
- Face Milling
- End Milling
- Slot Milling
- Chamfering / Forming a radius on machined edges
- Frilling and Reaming
Instruction in the use of measuring equipment (Micrometres / digital verniers)
Differential materials
- Mild steel / Aluminium / Brass
Entry requirements
This course is perfect for individuals who wish to understand more about machining or refreshing their knowledge. For those with more experience, machines will be available to complete their own projects under the guidance of a qualified tutor.
