Qualifications

Functional Skills Maths (Edexcel) Entry Level, Levels 1 and 2.

Our classes are small, friendly groups of like-minded people and our experienced tutors are keen to help you do as much as you feel possible. We are there to help you succeed!  Every learner receives tailored support and guidance throughout their studies, from induction to exam results, and even next steps.

You can take different levels of qualification from entry level to Level 1 or Level 2 and GCSE. We plan to offer classes that will run daytime or evenings at centres throughout Norfolk and Suffolk, therefore you can choose which course best suits your needs. We will also be able to offer online courses that will ensure you can continue to study from the comfort of your own home.

What you'll learn (core modules)

This course will also provide you with maths skills in preparation for progressing to GCSE, university and/or employment.

You will be part of a small, friendly classroom and will focus on building everyday practical skills such as problem solving, handling information and data, calculating ratios, averages and areas of shapes and space, working towards the reformed qualification in Functional Skills mathematics.

The qualification comprises one assessment of two sections: non-calculator and calculator.

How will I be assessed?

The Functional Skills qualification consists of one externally assessed assessment, comprising two separate sections a non-calculator section (calculator prohibited) and a calculator section (calculator permitted).

There will be the opportunity to sit mock exams, in preparation, and your tutor will provide written and verbal feedback.

Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)

If studying in-class, lessons are planned to take place at our Personal & Professional Learning Centre in Ipswich.

Click here to visit the West Suffolk College in Ipswich webpage.

Online classes will be delivered using Microsoft TEAMS and alongside the same great standard of teaching, students will also have regular one to one sessions with the tutor to ensure everyone is given the support they need. Feedback from existing students is that they have enjoyed the experience and the exam pass rate has been excellent.

Further details and options will be provided once you submit an enquiry about our courses.

Where will this course take me?

Functional Skills qualifications for Levels 1 and 2 are progression routes towards the GCSE. When a qualification is successfully achieved you will have the option to progress onto a higher-level Functional Skill or a GCSE.

How much will it cost?

If you have lived within the EU for the previous 3 years and do not already have a GCSE grade C or above in this subject then you qualify for full course funding.

I'm interested. What should I do now?
