An Advanced Apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme designed by employers in the sector. It allows you to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience while being paid to do so. Along with functional and personal skills that are needed for your immediate job and future career you will learn through a mix of project based learning in the workplace, formal off the job training, and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context.

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.
The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity - showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

Study times You will be expected to be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week, from 9:15 to 4:00. Your timetable will be confirmed at induction. With an additional day a week on industry placement.

The CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice is the perfect qualification for those embarking on a career in Human Recourses or those already in a support role wishing to take the next step on their career path.

 

West Suffolk College is offering this qualification via means of bi-monthly online taught lessons covering the Units within the qualification and tutor support.

 

The qualification is made up of Four Units and they are as follows:

 

Business, culture and change in context

This unit considers the impact of external influences and how the digital and commercial environment shapes businesses and the culture within which they operate. It considers the importance of people's behaviour on organisational culture and its ability to manage change effectively.

 

Principles of analytics

This unit looks at how people professionals make both straightforward and complex choices as they carry out their roles. It focuses on how applying a diverse range of analytics and evidence is essential to the rationalisation and enhancement of working practices, and situational decision making to create value. 

 

Core behaviours for people professionals

This unit introduces the core behaviours for people professionals, focusing on ethical practice to create value. It considers how certain ways of thinking and acting should be universally consistent, even in new and challenging situations. So, to promote a sense of well-being and inclusivity in the organisation.

 

Essentials of people practice

This unit introduces the fundamentals of people practice, ranging from the employee lifecycle to policies, regulation and law. It further explores a diverse array of specialist subjects, such as recruitment, talent management, reward and learning and development. All are essential to a career in people practice. Importantly, this unit enables practitioners to apply their knowledge and skills, building their confidence and ability to practise progressively. 

 

CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations qualification will help you to understand the factual and procedural requirements relevant for this profession. You will become a more confident problem solver able to complete new and existing tasks.  You will also gain a clear understanding about how procurement and supply fits in with the rest of the organisation.

 

For this qualification you will need to complete 30 credits. There are four CORE modules which make up 24 of the required credits. Then you can choose one of the ELECTIVE modules to make up the 6 remaining credits.

  • Ethical Procurement and Supply
  • Contract Administration
  • Team Dynamics and Change

 

Chose one Elective module from the following:

  • Socially Responsible Procurement
  • Socially Responsible Warehousing and Distribution

 

Students can join at the start of new modules.
