About the course
This Level 3 qualification is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to be able to appropriately coach and mentor others. The qualification is suitable for people who are teaching, coaching or training and/or who need to be able to coach and mentor individuals in a range of different settings. The qualification strengthens the employability of learners, and can, if already employed, lead to internal advancement or provide an entry point to new training/coaching roles.
Entry requirements
- Age: Learners must have been at least 19 years of age by 31 August 2024 (if you are aged 19-23 years you must already hold a full level 2 qualification i.e. 5 x GCSE's grade A*-C / 4-9)
- Nationality: Learners must have lived within the EU for at least the last 3 years
- Learners will be required to complete an electronic enrolment form & a student declaration.
- Learners must complete a maths and English skills checker (initial online course only).
- Learners will be required to attend an online induction session (initial online course only).

· Learning outcome 2: Understand the role of mentoring in engagement
Unit 4: Preparing for the Coaching Role
· Learning outcome 1: Understand your role and responsibilities as a coach
· Learning outcome 2: Understand how to identify client goals and outcomes
Unit 5: Coaching Skills
· Learning outcome 1: Understand the concept and benefits of mentoring in coaching
· Learning outcome 2: Establish, provide, and conclude a coaching relationship
· Learning outcome 3: Review your coaching performance
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
All learning will be online (self-study) and can be completed at a time that suits without the need to attend college. Dedicated tutors will provide written feedback on the assessments and ongoing remote support where required.
This course is a duration of 12-months. You can enrol at any time and will have 1-to-1 support with a tutor.
How much will it cost?
You may be eligible for government funding if:
- You are aged 19+
- you are employed but earning less than £25,000 gross per annum (proof required)
OR
- you are in receipt of certain benefits
If you are not eligible for funding, a course fee would be payable. This can be paid in instalments, paid via invoice by an Employer or you can apply for an Advance Learner Loan personally.
Non-completion of the course (including the taking of examinations) or failure to attend 3 consecutive sessions without notification or good reason may result in a charge of £185.
